Connect & network with fellow Chamber members while supporting Johnson County Developmental Supports (JCDS) who serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community! Up to 20 volunteers will assist alongside JCDS clients. The larger group will split off into smaller work groups that will be located at the center assisting JCDS clients:
- with their artwork or craft projects in our community outreach programs on site
- as they assemble kits on an assembly line type of set-up
- sharing a skill, by demonstrating or teaching a craft to small groups of JCDS clients
- JCDS has a fully equipped teaching kitchen on site
- with planting in one or all of our raised bed gardens and doing spring clean-up preparation
Johnson County Developmental Supports, (JCDS) was established in 1972 through the committed efforts of parents and other intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) advocates.
Since that time, JCDS has grown to serve about 500 individuals daily in its role as a Community Service Provider (CSP) through a broad array of programs and supports. These services include Targeted Case Management, Day Services, Employment Services, Residential Services, a Retirement Program, the Community Behavioral Health Team (CBHT), the Emerging Artists Program, Project Search and volunteerism.
JCDS serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. JCDS focuses on individual's abilities, provide choice driven supports, and advocate alongside people to live and work in our community.
JCDS aspires to build a community that promotes, supports, and embraces people of all abilities.
